Blondheim Art Contrast Exercise
This is a pretty good little exercise to help understand how contrast works. You need to do three paintings.
1. normal values and contrast
2. Very light contrast and value. More extremes in contrast with few half tones.
3. Very dark value and contrast. More extremes in contrast with few half tones.

Interesting idea. I bet this helps you determine how you normally see, and where to adjust your vision.
Yes, exactly Ed. I thought this exercise up because I noticed that my vision wants high contrast. I don't like low contrast paintings. Always looking at them thinking, if only it had more contrast. I think we are prone toward either tonal or light filled work and it is hard to break away from the bias. This exercise has helped me quite a bit to see other possibilities.
