Painters Tip
Use a range of values in your painting for more interest and variety. A painting with no contrast or variety of values can be boring. Think about thirds in value and contrast, perhaps using two thirds light, one third dark, two thirds dark, one third light or in other words, making light or dark dominate the composition with a bit of medium and light/dark rather than even distribution of values throughout the painting.
